Criminal Law/Extradition

In general, Extradition is seen as a gesture of goodwill from the country that is holding the suspect toward the country they give the suspect to. Most countries are not obliged to give up a suspected criminal to another country's legal system. Since there are no international laws governing extradition, countries have set up individualized extradition treaties with other countries regarding the act.

One of the primary goals of retaining counsel in the course of an extradition case is in order to buy some time for a professional to assist you in putting together a plan for release and a plan of attack on your trial in the country that is seeking your extradition. We want to make sure that the person is not extradited until after we have put in place a legal team for them.

We have even done cases where the entire negotiation is completed and we actually come up with a plea agreement prior to a person ever being extradited. Depending on the needs of the client, we will at times ourselves travel down to the jurisdiction.

Extradition Laws and the Process of Extradition are all complex subject matters that require the assistance of an experienced attorney that has substantial knowledge in International Extradition. Ioannis A. Neocleous, the Managing Partner of NCI Law Group, is expert in International Extradition as he has both education background and over 14 years of professional experience in the area of International criminal law.
